A Truck Insurance Policy in India covers vehicles that transport goods, in case of an accident or damage due to a natural disaster. It also has Third Party personal and property damages included.
Both 3-wheeler and 4-wheeler trucks are covered under this commercial vehicle insurance policy. These can be pick-up trucks, inter-city transport trucks and trucks used for delivery.

For any accidental loss or damage to your Truck vehicle

Covers your liabilities in case of a third party's injury, death or damage to property.

For an extra premium, cover those who work for you against injury/death due to an accident involving your vehicle

Choose from a range of Add-ons as per your need
It is compulsory to buy at least a Third Party vehicle insurance in India as per the Indian Vehicles Act, 1988. If you take a Comprehensive policy, it lets you pay for damage or loss to your vehicle, so that you don’t end up paying a large amount from your own pocket. In addition, it also pays compensation for loss or damage to another person (injury or death) or their property. For an extra premium, Personal Accident cover can be taken for your driver and your other employees using the vehicle. In short, all-round protection!

This policy is compulsory by law. Under this cover, any liability towards a third party loss - personal and property - will be covered. Any loss or damage to your truck is not covered.

This is the one you should be taking! In addition to third party damages, any damage or loss to your truck will also be covered.

You will be reimbursed for the amount of depreciation deducted on the value of replaced parts.

As long as you do not make more than one Own Damage claim in a year, your NCB will be restored.

If you are the first registered owner of a vehicle and have this Add-on, we will look after the cost of total loss, theft or constructive total loss of the vehicle. We will also take care of the Road Tax and RTO registration fee for the insured vehicle.

This covers the cost of replacement or fixing of consumables such as engine oil, washers, AC gas oil, nuts and bolts, radiator coolant and other similar items (excluding fuel) for the insured vehicle if it is damaged due to risks covered in Section 1 of the policy.

IDV (Insured Declared Value)
This is the maximum Sum Insured on your policy. This gets fixed at the start of your policy and is the maximum amount that can be paid for a claim.
NCB (No Claim Bonus)
That’s what they call the discount you get on your renewal premium, if you haven’t claimed in the past year. For the first claim-free year, you can get a 20% discount. It can go up to 50% if you don’t claim for 5 years in a row.
Depreciation
The steady decrease in the value of your vehicle over the years. When you buy a policy, your vehicle’s value is figured out based on its depreciation. Older the vehicle, higher the depreciation.
3-wheeler vehicles are used to carry very light weight goods.
Medium-sized trucks used to carry heavier goods within the city and between cities.
These are heavy goods vehicles used for transportation across the country and usually have a National Permit.
The policy doesn’t cover the wear and tear of vehicle parts, and damage caused to your vehicle due to war and nuclear risks. Don’t forget to check the inclusions and exclusions in your policy for exact details.
The highest NCB you can enjoy is a 50% discount on your Own Damage insurance premium. Of course, this applies only if you have not made a claim in the past 5 policy years.
